The MAA has a key role in supporting the improved management of claimant's injuries within the NSW CTP scheme.

This is done through a range of strategies including:

  • educating stakeholders and service providers about medical/rehabilitation features of the scheme
  • monitoring costs and trends in injury management services to CTP claimants
  • improving injury management practices
  • funding rehabilitation initiatives targeting groups that are a high cost to the CTP scheme

Current priorities include: brain injury, spinal cord injury and whiplash associated disorders.


Service provider workshops

Each year, the MAA runs workshops for rehabilitation or care and support service providers who are not familiar with the NSW Motor Accidents Scheme and who are working with CTP claimants.

The workshops cover:

  • NSW Motor Accidents Scheme
  • MAA Medical Assessment Service (MAS)
  • Insurer claims management process
  • MAA Claims Advisory Service (CAS)
  • Writing rehabilitation/attendant care plans.

Workshops for 2009 are scheduled for the following Fridays: 13 March, 15 May, 14 August, 23 October.
