The MAA has a key role in supporting the improved management of claimant's injuries within the NSW CTP scheme.

This is done through a range of strategies including:

  • monitoring costs and trends in injury management services to CTP claimants
  • improving injury management practices
  • funding rehabilitation initiatives targeting groups that are a high cost to the CTP scheme
  • educating stakeholders and service providers about medical/rehabilitation features of the scheme. More information about our training is available on the Events page.


The following training and education events are planned for 2013:


Whole Person Impairment Workshops

The MAA facilitates WPI workshops for CTP insurers to provide information on how permanent impairment is assessed in the CTP Scheme. These courses may be of interest to other relevant industry groups, such as legal practitioners, who work with CTP claims.

The workshops run for half day and are conducted in the HSBC Building at 580 George St Sydney. Venue details are provided once you have registered and your place is confirmed.

Service Provider Workshops

The Motor Accidents Authority (MAA) has a role in delivering training and education to support service providers delivering rehabilitation to those injured in motor vehicle crashes and claiming through the Compulsory Third Party scheme (CTP).  The MAA runs workshops for rehabilitation service providers to enhance communication with CTP insurers to promote optimal recovery for the injured.

The MAA currently offers three workshop options for service providers interested in learning about providing treatment in the NSW CTP Scheme:

The workshops run for a full day and are conducted in the HSBC Building at 580 George St Sydney. Venue details are provided once you have registered and your place is confirmed.

Additional workshops may be offered if indicated by demand.

Completion of Level I training is recommended for all rehabilitation service providers working in the NSW CTP Scheme. This may be completed by attendance at a workshop or completion of the on-line course.

Service Provider Workshop Level I

The Service Provider Workshop-Level I is offered in the Sydney CBD and it is recommended that all health service providers interested in working in the CTP Scheme have completed this, or the online course.

The workshops run for a full day and are conducted in the HSBC Building at 580 George St Sydney. Venue details are provided once you have registered and your place is confirmed.

The Service Provider Workshop – Level I provides participants with:

  • an overview of the NSW Motor Accidents Scheme
  • information on the CTP claims management process
  • opportunity to practice preparing rehabilitation plans
  • opportunity to work on case studies and activities with CTP insurer representatives
  • copies of relevant resources

Cost: $100.00 + GST per workshop

Service Providers unable to attend a workshop are encouraged to complete the Online Service Provider Course – Level I


Online Service Provider Course Level I

The Online Service Provider Course – Level I provides convenient access for service providers who are not able to attend the face-to-face workshops which are offered in Sydney.  Completion of this training, or the face to face Level I workshop, is recommended for all rehabilitation service providers working in the NSW CTP Scheme.
 
The Online Service Provider Course – Level I provides participants with:

  • an overview of the NSW Motor Accidents Scheme
  • information on the CTP claims management process
  • a range of written and video information
  • links to relevant resources available on the MAA website 
  • case study activities and sample responses
  • a thirty question multiple choice assessment. 

Cost: $40.00 + GST per workshop

Service Provider Workshop Level II

This advanced workshop is for service providers working with CTP claimants with complex rehabilitation needs and focuses on communication, problem solving, and case examples. It is expected that participants will have completed a Service Provider – Level I program, be familiar with the Rehabilitation Communications Procedures 2010 and have experience working in the CTP Scheme.

The Service Provider Workshop – Level II provides participants with:

  • revision of the key requirements for communicating with CTP insurers
  • tips and tools for the management of complex cases
  • practice developing goals and plans
  • opportunity to work with CTP insurer representatives on case studies

Workshop participants are required to prepare for the workshop by preparing a brief rehabilitation plan for a provided case study.

Cost: $100.00 + GST per workshop

The MAA endeavours to confirm registration in all workshops upon receipt of the registration form and to send any pre-course reading material no less than one week prior to the course. Occasionally emails are blocked by network security systems because attachments may not be accepted or marked as SPAM. To prevent this happening in the future, please ensure the MAA is placed on your ‘safe sender’ list.

If, for any reason, you have not received a confirmation email one week prior to the expected commencement date, please email workshop@maa.nsw.gov.au to confirm your registration.
For courses that require pre-reading you can request the material up to two weeks prior to the course date.
